Deborah Bateson
Deborah is Professor of Practice at the Daffodil Centre, University of Sydney and Cancer Council NSW, and former Medical Director at Family Planning NSW. She has worked as a clinician, researcher, educator and advocate in sexual and reproductive health for over 20 years with a focus on equitable access to cervical cancer prevention and reproductive health services. She is leading a research program to enhance cervical screening participation for women with intellectual disability in Australia and a co-lead of an initiative to eliminate cervical cancer in the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu. Deborah is a co-author of the Cervical Screening Guidelines, Deputy Chair of the National Cervical Screening Program Quality and Safety Monitoring Committee and Chair of Self-Collection Implementation Committee.
