Michael Powell
Michael is currently a senior pharmacist in oncology and haematology at the Royal Hobart Hospital in Tasmania. His extensive background in cancer pharmacy includes clinical pharmacy and management roles in both public and private hospital settings in Australia, the UK and the Middle East. Michael’s principal interests include the therapeutic management of haematological, breast, colorectal and lung cancers, immuno-oncology and the governance of safe cancer therapy delivery.
Michael is a longstanding member of the COSA Cancer Pharmacists Group and is heavily involved in education and training of cancer pharmacists both locally and nationally, including the CPG Foundation and Advanced Cancer Pharmacy Courses. He is a co-author of both the COSA Guidelines for the Safe Prescribing, Dispensing and Administration of Systemic Cancer Therapy and the SHPA Standard of Practice for Oncology and Haematology for Pharmacy Services. He is also an Adjunct Lecturer on cancer therapeutics in the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences at Griffith University on the Gold Coast.
